This page includes a listing of standard JCC seminars, along with a brief description. Public offering are scheduled when there is sufficient interest in a single topic. For on-site delivery, these seminars can be used as a foundation for customized training and can also be combined with site-specific examples, labs, and consulting. JCC also offers seminars at some Rdb Technical Forums.
Full abstracts are available for some of the seminars listed. Click on the seminar title to see the abstract. If you need the training available in one of these, but do not have enough people for an onsite, contact JCC.

Relational Database Design for Fixing "Broken" Databases (2 days)
An intensive seminar on relational database design and redesign of existing data stores. The seminar gives in-depth attention to entity-relationship modeling, normalization, transaction tables, concurrency, performance, security, the functional data model (i.e. making relational databases run faster), reengineering, and other issues.
Implementing a Relational Database Using SQL (4 days)
Introduction to Oracle Rdb’s implementation of the SQL standard. Topics that you’ll master include the SQL programming language, program interfaces, and creating and maintaining databases.
Advanced SQL (5 days)
An advanced focus on the use of SQL in the Rdb environment. This seminar teaches you how to achieve maximum performance from database queries and covers advanced SQL language concepts, sub queries, sessions, built-in functions, compound statements, and stored procedures and functions.

Topics include verify and backup schedules, security and access control, auditing, planning of upgrades, AIJ management, local and global buffers, row cache, index definitons and other performance and availability management.
This seminar focuses on the ways you can improve the performance of your Rdb database application by manipulating the "physical" characteristics of your database. Importantly, the seminar also focuses on ways to avoid common pitfalls and known performance issues with the engine.
This seminar focuses on the ways you can improve the performance of your Rdb database application by manipulating the "logical" characteristics of your database. Importantly, the seminar also focuses on ways to avoid common pitfalls and known performance issues with the engine.
Rdb Internals (5 days)
Have you always wanted to know why Oracle Rdb's optimizer chooses the strategies it does? Would you like to be able to read Rdb's bugcheck dumps? Do you know how Rdb chooses the pages on which it stores new records? Do you know what is actually stored on a database page? JCC's LogMiner Loader: Features and Applications (1 to 3 days)
This seminar provides an in-depth view of JCC's LogMiner Loader (and Oracle's Rdb LogMiner) and of the wide variety of applications benefiting from the LogMiner Loader. (For a more complete description of the Loader and the applications see the LogMiner Loader features page.) Options include a one day workshop that demonstrates installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and some of the options for customizing; a two day introduction that includes labs and the opportunity to design your own uses; a three-day presentation with more time for discussing the configuration options; or a tuning class for experienced users.
