Keith Hare receives INCITS Award

Keith-Hare

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, the International Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS), at its awards dinner in Savannah, Georgia, presented Keith Hare with the INCITS Gene Milligan Award for Effective Committee Management.

INCITS recognized Keith for his numerous contributions to the INCITS/DM32.2 - Database standards community. His pro-active participation in investigating opportunities for standardization in the area of Big Data has helped drive both INCITS/DM32.2 and JTC 1/SC 32 towards active pursuit of such work. Because it is likely that future editions of Database Language SQL will incorporate new features for Big Data, Hare's role as Convenor of SC 32/WG 3 is positioned well to drive this activity. Hare has a deep familiarity with both the INCITS Standing Documents (which he insures DM32.2 follows in his capacity as Vice Chairman) and the consolidated JTC 1 Directives (under which he operates as the Convenor of JTC 1/SC 32/WG 3). Keith ensures fairness and the participation of all interested stakeholders by judicious application of sometimes daunting domestic and international rules, while simultaneously ensuring that standards development progresses on a most timely basis.

INCITS recognizes that Keith Hare's expertise, dedicated efforts and willingness to accept responsibilities are vital to the successful development of national and international standards.
